Debie Ellis (Zola) VIEW PROFILE

Debie Zola, 56

BOARDMAN – There will be a Divine Liturgy of Christian Burial on Monday, July 14, 2008 at 2 p.m. at St. Maron Church, with Rev. Gary George officiating, for Debie Zola, 56, who passed away Friday morning, July 11, 2008 from an extended illness at her residence with her family by her side.

Debie will always be remembered and loved by her family and friends.

She was born March 20, 1952 in Youngstown, the daughter of Louis and Rose (Joseph) Ellis.

Debie was employed with the Campbell City School System as an elementary school teacher for over 32 years, retiring in 2006. She also was a co-owner and operator of the Oven Works and Justin Time Cleaners with her late husband, Eugene.

Debie was an active member of St. Maron Church and Our Lady of Lebanon Shrine, where she was Maronite Youth Coordinator and helped with Bingo and the 25 Club.

Debie was a 1970 graduate of Ursuline High School, and received her Bachelor of Elementary Education from Youngstown State University.

Debie enjoyed shopping, watching “Law and Order,” traveling and spending time with her family on the West Coast. She also enjoyed doing research and tracing her family roots, from which she put together a book of their history.

Debie was an inspiration to all of us by the way she lived her life to the fullest each and every day; she always put everyone first, gave without wanting anything in reward, helped with charitable causes, and was extremely proud of her family. They were always number one.

Her husband, Eugene Zola, whom she married March 17, 1973, died Sept. 1, 2007.

She leaves behind to hold on to her memories, her mother Rose Ellis of Youngstown; a son, Justin Zola of Boardman, a brother, Anthony Ellis Esq. and a sister, Alicemarie O’Neill, both of San Diego, Calif.; along with a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

Besides her father and husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, Michael Ellis.

Friends may call today from 3 to 8 p.m. and Monday from 1 to 1:50 p.m., all at St. Maron Church, 1555 South Meridian Road in Youngstown, where the prayers of Incense will be held today at 7:30 p.m.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the professional care of the Rossi & Santucci Funeral Home, 4700 Market St. in Boardman.

Debie was my "secret sister" when we did that activity for one of our religion classes. I lost track of her, and was not aware of her passing. She was a very nice person. Sorry to hear she's gone......
