Was there ever a nicer guy than "T"? I don't think it possible. Always remembered.

I went all through school with Tom including kindergarten at McKinLey Elementary on the North side. Our parents were also good friends and I am very sad about Tom's passing. He was a kind and intelligent guy and we used to have fun with him planning the early reunions when our children were young. May he rest in peace.

While at UHS, my girlfriend (and future wife) set Tom up with his girlfriend (and future wife) Ruth Ann Zone. We hung around together for the next three years. I can remember the four of us watching Armstrong walk on the moon. After we were married we parted to go our separate ways but I kept "recruiting" Tom for things - class reunion committee, touch football team, over 30 touch football; weekly volleyball games in the back yard. He in turn had us join his bocce team. In time we lost track of the Shaws.
I visited Tom in the hospital twice after his accident. The first was around ten days after the accident and the second on the night before he was transferred to Cleveland. Tom always managed to see the good in people and events and that night he was very positive about the treatment and rehab he was to get in Cleveland. It was not too many days later that he passed away.
As a high school senior, I considered him to be the "star" of our class and although his life did not play out as I would have imagined in 1970, I am thankful to have shared in a small part of it.
