George Garchar

CORAL SPRINGS, FLA. – George Michael “Garch” Garchar, 53, departed this life Saturday afternoon, Sept. 16, after a long illness at his home. George was born Dec. 2, 1952 in Youngstown, the son of George and Caroline Garchar, also of Youngstown. He lived in Coral Springs for the last 30 years, where he was the devoted caregiver and best friend to his loving brother, Thomas J. Garchar. Prior to that noble endeavor, George had worked at Conrail and was a 1970 graduate of Ursuline High School. George enjoyed music, sports, traveling and the companionship of his family and friends. He is survived by his brother, Thomas J. Garchar of Coral Springs, and his former wife and lifelong friend, Patricia A. Garchar (Mitchell) of Columbus, and their two sons, Colin T. Garchar and Kyle P. Garchar, also of Columbus. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Richard N. Garchar. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday evening at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Home, Boardman-Canfield Chapel. There will be a Celebration of Life Mass at 10 a.m. Saturday St. Christine’s Church. The family asks that any monetary contributions be made payable to Merrill Lynch, 65 E. State St., Columbus, OH 43215 for the George Garchar Memorial Fund to benefit his children’s education
