Kris Evans (Gorosics)

PHOENIX — Kristen Gorosics, 69, passed away Monday, Feb. 14, 2022, after a long and valiant battle with cancer.

She was born March 26, 1952, in Youngstown, the daughter of Robert and Georgeann Vitullo Evans. She graduated from Ursuline High School as a member of the Class of 1970. Go Irish.

Kristen worked as a general manager for Staples. During her time there, she changed attitudes, cultures and lives. She was devoted to helping the less fortunate. She supported several Catholic churches, in addition to her many charities. St. Baldrick’s and St. Jude’s were among her favorites. She volunteered where ever and whenever help was needed, including St. Joseph’s in Austintown, where she also served as the schools first athletic director.

Kristen was an avid sports fan. She loved her Pittsburgh Steelers. Every Sunday consisted of church followed by pasta and football. She was deeply devoted to her faith, her family and her friends. She was always available lend an ear or support you in any way. Kris had the innate ability to make everyone around her feel better about themselves. She was selfless in every way.

Kristen is survived by her husband of 49 years, John Gorosics of Phoenix; and her sons, John “Chip” (Dawn Marciano), Christopher and Michael, all of Phoenix. She also leaves her beloved granddaughters, Jordan, Adrianna and Nicole. She is also survived by her brothers, Rob (Diane) Evans of Austintown and Michael “Mickey” (Vickie) Evans of New Castle, Pa.

Kristen was preceded in death by her parents, Robert Evans and Georgeann Vitullo Grimes (Harvey); and her brothers, Anthony Evans and John Evans. She was also preceded in death by her son, Gregory John Caesar Gorosics.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, June 17, 2022, at St. Joseph Parish, Austintown. Family and friends are welcome for a reception at Mr. Anthony’s, following the service.
